Two of the most interesting countries in Africa to visit are the land-locked nations of Rwanda and Burundi. The local people belong to one of two tribal groupings: Hutu or Tutsi.

• The Tutsi tend to be tall and thin.
• The Hutu are normally considerably shorter.

While these distinctions are noticeable, it's important to note that the two groups have a complex history. Visitors should avoid discussing the recent genocidal wars that devastated both countries in the 1990s.

Current Conditions

Today, both countries enjoy relative peace and harmony, and their economies have returned to normal. This makes Rwanda and Burundi safe to visit and explore.
