The former mandated territory of South West Africa is emerging as a stable and well-run, sensible country, much like its neighbor Botswana. In a continent of failed and troubled states, Namibia shines as an interesting country with a good infrastructure, wonderful scenery, friendly people, and fun experiences for those visiting.

Namibia is largely desert-like, characterized by mostly grasslands, but it can be divided into easy-to-explore segments for adventurers:

• The Far North (Caprivi Strip):
  Originally carved out by German imperialists to curtail British influence in South Africa, this region now provides easy access to Namibia from Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. It also forms the long border with Angola.

• Etosha National Park:
  Located further west, this area boasts a wealth of wildlife and is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.

• White Lady Stone Carving and Petroglyphs of Brandberg:
  Found further south, these ancient carvings are an incredible glimpse into Namibia's rich history.

• Windhoek (The Capital):
  Situated farther south, Windhoek showcases its German heritage, which has been lovingly preserved.

• Swakopmund:
  Located further west, this port is uniquely charming and worth exploring.

• The East:
  Features an excellent highway leading to Maun in Botswana.

For those venturing further south, there are even more treasures to discover:

• Lüderitz (on the coast) and Aus (further inland):
  These locations offer stunning landscapes and a sense of serenity.
• Fish River Canyon:
  A marvelous natural wonder with several lodges conveniently located nearby.
