Galapagos Islands, Quito & Guayaquil | ITMB 2022

The Galapagos archipelago is a little difficult to reach, as all flights must originate in Ecuador. This necessitates adding maps for both Quito and Guayaquil to this map of the islands, as these are the two cities flights depart from to reach the access airport on one of the islands.

Naturally, visitors travel to the Galapagos for one primary reason – to see exotic wildlife in a truly unique way. Here are some key details to keep in mind:

• Tour Requirements: One can only explore the Galapagos as part of a tour, so making advance bookings with a small or big ship is absolutely essential.
• Wildlife Viewing: Likely viewing areas for iguanas, turtles, seals, and booby birds have been carefully marked. However, as wild creatures tend to move around, it is crucial to use an experienced guide to locate them.
• Pristine Environment: Much of the island grouping remains as pristine as it was when the HMS Beagle arrived two hundred years ago, carrying a young Charles Darwin. His observations of wild species with no ingrained fear of humans led to the development of the concept of evolution, now widely accepted as fact.
