The Cuzco/Inca Trail/Manchu Picchu region of Peru is extremely popular.

Our map includes:

• City of Cuzco
• The Inca Trail (shown on a series of sectional map insets)
• Inset of Aguas Calientes, the interesting town which serves as the jumping-off place for all visits to Manchu Picchu
• Separate inset map of the Incan city, located in the middle of nowhere and fabulously interesting

This is yet another of those ‘must-see-before-you-die’ places.

We went by train from Cuzco to Aguas, which was an adventure in itself. From there, we sat in the back of a lorry for the climb up to Manchu and spent a wonderful day exploring the World Heritage site. You can also trek along the Inca Trail, as that’s the only alternative—there is no road or airport access.

Side 2 of the map covers:

• The southern half of Peru, essentially from Lima to the Chilean border
• Inland regions as far as Lake Titicaca (another wonderful place to see)

Peru existed long before the Spanish arrived, and the country is filled with amazing places to explore:

• Arequipa, known for its stunning colonial architecture
• Ticlio Station, near Morococha, which is the most elevated railway station in the world (4,758 meters above sea level)
