Ahaura (50)

Topo50 is the official topographic map series used by New Zealand emergency services. It provides detailed topographic mapping for the New Zealand mainland and Chatham Islands at a 1:50,000 scale.

Features

• Legend Key

  • Reference links indicate a relevant warning note or important information.
  • Symbols represent features on the ground, such as:
    • Roads, tracks, rivers, lakes, vegetation, fences, buildings, and power lines.
    • These symbols are grouped into themes (e.g., "roads and tracks," "railways," "relief features").
    • Note: Different scale maps show varying levels of detail. Larger scale maps display more features and finer details.
  • Colour coding enhances readability:
    • Blue for water features,
    • Black for cultural features,
    • Green for vegetation features.

• Back Cover
  Displays a locality indicator to easily identify where the map sheet fits within the island-wide geographic region. It highlights warnings and important information, refers to the LINZ website, includes the product barcode, and invites advice on errors or omissions.

• Front Cover
  Redesigned to distinguish it from the Topographic NZMS260 series. Includes adjacent sheet names on the reference panel and an awareness panel to help identify the latest national map series first edition.

• Format
  A1 portrait (59.4 x 84.1 cm).

• Map Reading References
  Provides projection parameters, scale information, and grid referencing details to assist map users.
