SouthPacific Islands

The islands of the South Pacific is a double-sided map from Nelles Verlag providing on separate panels coverage of individual groups or islands at varying scales, plus two overview maps:
  1. South Pacific from the eastern tip of Papua New Guinea and the coast of Australia to French Polynesia and the Pitcairn Islands (1:13,000,000)
  2. Chile from Santiago and Valparaiso to Puerto Montt and the Chiloe Island (1:4,500,000). 
Topography of the islands is shown by bold relief shading with spot heights. Road network includes, where appropriate, minor roads and tracks. National parks/protected areas and places of interest are prominently highlighted. Each panel has margin ticks with latitude and longitude. None of the maps are indexed. Map legend includes English. The individual panels cover: 

  • Cook Islands: Rarotonga at 1:110,000 plus Aitutaki and its lagoon at 1:150,000 
  • Easter Island at 1:150,000, plus Robinson Crusoe Island at 1:155,000 
  • Fiji Islands at 1:3,000,000, plus Viti Levu with Vanua Levu at 1:650,000 and a street plan of central Suva 
  • Marquesas Islands at 1:3,000,000 plus Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa at 1:400,000 
  • New Caledonia at 1:1,250,000 
  • Niue at 1:400,000 
  • Samoa: Western Samoa (Savaii and Upolu) at 1:500,000, plus Tutuila in the American Samoa at 1:250,000 
  • Society Islands at 1:3,000,000 plus Tahiti with Moorea at 1:270,000, Huahine at 1:200,000, Bora-Bora at 1:175,000, and a street plan of central Papeete 
  • Solomon Islands at 1: 3,000,000 plus Guadalcanal at 1:1,000,000 
  • Tonga: Tongatapu at 1:270,000 plus the Vava'u group of islands at 1:300,000 
  • Vanuatu at 1:5,000,000, with the central group including Espiritu Santo at 1:900,000, Tanna and Efate at 1:450,000, plus Erromango at 1:550,000 
  • Wallis at 345,000 plus Futuna at 1:225,000
